National Volunteer Week
It’s National Volunteer Week, and we want to take this opportunity to recognize our volunteers.
At WRCF, our dedicated volunteers bring their time, skills, empathy, creativity, expertise, and insights to help us support people and organizations across Waterloo Region on a daily basis. Each contribution they make is strengthening our communities and we couldn’t do the work that we do without them.
We asked two of our volunteers, Gary Abbott and Roshan James, to share their thoughts on volunteering with WRCF.
On the Table is an event organized by Waterloo Region Community Foundation (WRCF) to encourage community connection.
Between June 7th and 9th, 2024, we’re inviting people to bring together your friends, colleagues, neighbours, or people in the community over some food to talk about what matters most to you. This is an event that’s happening across Waterloo Region, where you’re in charge. Whether it’s a meal, snack, or coffee break, On the Table encourages individuals and organizations to take the time and connect with one another face-to-face.
GROWING GAINS: Woolwich Community Health Centre wellness garden cultivates improved overall well-being
The Woolwich Community Health Centre provides primary healthcare, health promotion and illness prevention programs and services to the residents of Woolwich and Wellesley townships. WRCF was proud to support its Community Wellness Garden through the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative.
The Farwell4Hire campaign, an annual fundraiser that takes place in the month of May, kicks off soon. Since Farwell4Hire began in 2014, it has helped to contribute more than $1 Million to cystic fibrosis (CF) research. The Farwell4Hire Fund was created in memory of Luanne and Sheri Farwell, and supported by the Farwell4Hire campaign, contributes to important research that will one day create a world without CF.
Bereaved Families of Ontario – Midwestern Region’s Grief at Work program aims to create more compassionate workplaces
Bereaved Families of Ontario – Midwestern Region’s Grief at Work Program is designed to support businesses and organizations as they gain a better understanding of grief, take away tangible tools and strategies they can apply in the workplace, and learn how to create a culture of compassion that promotes empathy and understanding.
