An Infrastructure to Build Community
For the second half of 2023, the Board and team of WRCF was hard at work crafting its first-ever strategic plan. WRCF's President & CEO shares some information about our new focus on social infrastructure - the bridges necessary to build trust and civic participation, to create a sense of belonging and wellbeing.
Approximately $650,000 is available to organizations that are focused on initiatives linked to improving social infrastructure. The Trinity United Church Legacy Fund is partnering with WRCF again in 2024 and is providing additional funding.
Funding will be distributed across Waterloo Region to provide grants to initiatives that support making the arts more central and meaningful in people’s lives.
We’re excited to announce the launch of Waterloo Region APPLY! A centralized place to find available funding opportunities from Astley Family Foundation, Lyle S. Hallman Foundation, Social Venture Partners Waterloo Region, United Way Waterloo Region Communities, and Waterloo Region Community Foundation.
INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY: Muslim Social Services Waterloo Region summer camp provides ‘safe space’ free of barriers
For the past two years, Muslim Social Services Waterloo Region has organized an in-person summer program for children as young as five years old and up to 14 years old with the help of The Waterloo Region Record – Lyle S. Hallman Foundation Kids to Camp Fund, held at WRCF.
The Children and Youth Planning Table of Waterloo Region has recently released their 2023 Youth Impact Survey Data Briefs. This report provides an excellent overview of how young people are doing post-pandemic in Waterloo Region.
